You may have come to Stony Brook Medicine for the quality of our clinical care. But we also hope to provide you with an excellent experience overall — from the people you encounter to the ready availability of support services, hospitality and other resources to help you connect with the people and information you need. Your comfort and well-being are as important to us as your health.
In keeping with our Patient- and Family- Centered model of care, we also want to make sure you are able to provide feedback while under our care. We value your questions and comments and are willing to address any concerns.
Support Groups for Patients and Caregivers
Stony Brook Medicine offers a wide range of support/educational/physical programs for our patients, family members, and staff. All programs are free but require registration. Cancer support groups include presentations by medical staff as well as a chance to interact with others facing a cancer diagnosis. Our educational and physical activities are designed with patients and their needs as the primary focus. Call (631) 444-4000 for information about any of our programs or contact our Community Outreach Coordinator at (631) 638-0004.
Patient Advocacy representatives are available to help with many non-medical matters. Please browse through our listing of support services to learn more about the various departments and programs available for patients, their families and caregivers.
Sometimes you need quick answers to simple questions — like how to access the Internet or send a gift to a friend’s room. Other times, you may have a small request — a beverage or a linen change, for example. Or maybe a visitor needs help locating a local hotel or restaurant. For these amenities and more, the Concierge Services staff is ready to provide assistance.
Language Assistance Services is dedicated to provide meaningful access to qualified medical interpreters. We strive to improve access to care, quality of care and the health outcomes of our culturally and linguistically divers patients.
