    Beta blockers are a type of medication used to treat blood pressure problems, control heart rate, and treat some types of heart problems. For most patients who usually take these medications, it is important that they get them while they are having surgery.

    At SBUH, 88% of a sample of 170 eligible surgery patients got appropriate beta blocker medication during surgery.

    A high score is better than a low score.

    The U.S. average score summarizes the average of health care organizations throughout the United States reporting to the CMS for the period October 2009 to September 2010.
    Top 10% score summarizes results from the best 10% of health care organizations reporting to the CMS for the period October 2009 to September 2010.
