    The Faces of Our Volunteers

    Meet Mickey Martin and Lucy
Mickey and his Labrador Lucy, a pet therapy dog certified by Therapy Dogs International, have been bringing joy and comfort to Stony Brook’s Pediatric and Psychiatric units, donating more than 200 volunteer hours since 2008.

    Meet Peter Bruschi
A junior volunteer in Supply Management, Peter recently received the President’s Volunteer Service Gold Award for his outstanding dedication and more than 640 hours of service.
    Meet Janice Mollet
Honored with the Volunteer of the Year Award in 2000, Janice began her volunteer service after retiring from a 20-year career in the Health Sciences Library. She is the consummate contributor, volunteering her time throughout many areas of the Hospital — including the Gift Shop, Central Registration, the Information Desk and Volunteer Services.
    Meet Mohammed Naeem
Brightening young patients’ days with activities and programs is the specialty of Mohammed, the founder of Project Sunshine at Stony Brook Medicine. He recently organized a tailgating party in Pediatrics, and is planning a spa program for parents of young patients.

    Meet Ariel Goller
Ariel came to Stony Brook in 2008 as part of a partnership between the NYIT Vocational Independence Program and Stony Brook Volunteer Services. One of our most active volunteers, Ariel has donated over 1,000 hours to date.

    Meet Mark Klein
Mark, a musicologist and radio host for WUSB, is our music master, presenting performances in the pediatric playroom, and taking music directly to the bedsides of those who cannot attend.
