The honoree for this year’s Walk for Beauty is Patrick Parent of Selden, owner of Legends Hair Designs, which has participated in “Cut for a Cure” for the past four years, with proceeds benefiting the Cancer Center. Legends also provides pink hair extensions at the walk, with proceeds donated to the event. A breast cancer survivor, Barbara Meringolo of Stony Brook, will also be honored this year. Breast cancer survivors will receive a special memento at the walk. WALK for BEAUTY began in 1994 as a community effort to raise breast cancer awareness and to establish a boutique for people with cancer. Since 1996, WALK for BEAUTY has supported breast cancer research at Stony Brook University. Proceeds from this year’s walk will support this research and provide wigs for cancer patients in financial need. WALK for BEAUTY is held in beautiful and historic Stony Brook. 6K walkers have the option of walking through Avalon Park and Preserve.
