This week is Patient Experience Week, a time to celebrate our faculty and staff who touch our patients’ lives every day with the compassionate care they deliver. It is also a time to honor our commitment to providing safe, high-quality and patient-centered care for all of our patients.
Our theme this year is “Caring for Our Caregivers,” because regardless of your role, you all are caregivers who impact our patients’ lives. Your dedication makes a difference in the lives of our patients and truly inspires us all.
Just like many of us, patients who receive care here have been deeply affected by the pandemic – whether they have been separated from a loved one while hospitalized, concerned about receiving care during the pandemic or just stressed from how COVID-19 has affected all of our personal lives and families.
Despite all of this, our physicians and staff continue to show that incredible care, empathy and compassion are part of who we are and how we deliver care at Stony Brook.
As a recent patient said, “I am aware of your mission to provide the best medical care to your patients and make them as comfortable as possible. Let me assure you that you accomplished this and so much more with every staff member I met. I will never forget how well I was treated, and you should be very proud of the care you provide.”
On behalf of our entire leadership team, thank you for all you are doing to care for our patients and families. I encourage you to take some time to care for yourself as you continue to give so much to our patients. We hope you take advantage of some of the support resources, activities and wellness events scheduled throughout this week designed to show our appreciation for all that you do.
