We recognize that certain communities may have unique needs during this time and have several resources and tips that can help.
LGBTQ Communities
COVID-19 may pose a greater risk to LGBTQ communities due to existing health disparities. Isolation and quarantine may also be particularly difficult for LGBTQ individuals. The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) compiled a list of resources for the LGBTQ community, including:
- Phone and online support options for LGBTQ youth and LGBTQ-headed families that can foster a sense of connection and community during isolation.
- A multi-faith virtual service, hosted by the HRC, explores ways to find positivity and perseverance in the coming months.
- A post by J. Maurice McCants-Pearsall, Director, HRC Foundation HIV and Health Equity that discusses the impact of COVID-19 on persons living with HIV.
- A brief and webinar about the impact of COVID-19 on LGBTQ older people and strategies for how to support them
