This week and next, we celebrate two significant occasions: National Nurses Week (May 6 to 12) and National Hospital Week (May 12 to 18). These events follow closely after Patient Experience Week, reminding us of our profound impact on our patients and community as healthcare professionals.
I want to take a moment to express my deep appreciation for each of you. Whether directly involved in patient care or providing vital support, your dedication and expertise shine through daily. Your commitment to improving lives and enhancing the quality of care is truly inspiring.
This time also allows us to reflect on our collective strength as a team. We have faced a number of challenges together, and your support for each other has been remarkable. Our unity and resilience strengthen us, ensuring we can always depend on one another.
As a token of our appreciation during these weeks, we are providing all Stony Brook Medicine faculty and staff with a special T-shirt bearing the sentiment “Together We Heal. Together We Thrive.” It serves as a reminder of the importance of teamwork and collaboration in our mission to provide world-class, compassionate care. I hope you will wear it with pride.
There is so much to celebrate in the weeks ahead, and I encourage you to participate in the events and activities we have planned. From the Florence Nightingale Nursing Awards Ceremony, ice cream and cookie/brownie deliveries, gratitude rounds by our leadership team and the Hospital Week Celebration, to name a few, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
