"Pancreatitis is a complex and challenging condition that requires a multifaceted treatment strategy," said Dr. Georgakis. "By bringing together specialists from different fields, we can offer our patients a comprehensive care plan that addresses all aspects of their health and well-being. Our multidisciplinary clinic not only represents a significant advancement in pancreatitis care but also serves as a model for integrated healthcare solutions."

The Pancreatitis Clinic helps to ensure that patients receive continuous, coordinated care even after they leave the hospital, enhancing their recovery and quality of life. This first-of-its-kind clinic, dedicated exclusively to this condition, underscores Stony Brook's commitment to improving patient outcomes through cutting-edge treatment strategies and compassionate, patient-centered healthcare.

"Our goal is to create a seamless transition from inpatient care to outpatient follow-up," says interventional gastroenterologist Dr. Lionel D’Souza. "The multidisciplinary clinic allows us to monitor our patients' progress closely, adjust treatments as needed, and provide comprehensive support throughout their recovery journey."

The clinic is open the third Wednesday of every month from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with a rotating schedule of general surgeons and gastroenterologists. For more information about the Pancreatitis Clinic, or to schedule an appointment, please contact the scheduling team:
