"Teaching is such a vital aspect of what we do as academic surgeons."
-- Dr. David Landau

"I am honored and so grateful for having received this year's Fabio Giron Teaching Award in Vascular Surgery," said Dr. Landau. "Teaching is such a vital aspect of what we do as academic surgeons. My teachers and mentors during my training forged me into who I am today. This award is a testimony to them and it is a privilege to be able to pass on what I have learned to our current [and future] residents and students."

The Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery's mission is to cultivate an academic setting that focuses on basic and clinical research ultimately resulting in best practices in the care of our patients with vascular disorders. Educating and updating physicians on the latest vascular techniques and practices are extremely important for patient care, that’s why continued medical educational events by grant support are offered throughout the year. Leaders in the division also founded the annual Venous Symposium, held in New York, which offers a comprehensive educational opportunity for those who treat or want to be involved in the diagnosis and treatment of venous disease.

Congratulations to the honorees on your awards and thank you for continuing Stony Brook's tradition of academic excellence and furthering the mission of educating the next generation of surgeons.
