Dr. Huseyin Isildak Appointed Chief of the Division of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery

Doctor Huseyin IsildakOn Friday, November 1, 2024, Dr. Apostolos Tassiopoulos, Chair of the Stony Brook Department of Surgery, announced that Huseyin Isildak, MD, has been appointed Chief of the Division of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (ENT). Dr. Isildak had been serving as Interim Chief since June 2024. His appointment is effective immediately.

Dr. Isildak is a Professor of Surgery, Director of Otology/Neurotology and Director of Stony Brook's Cochlear Implant Program. He joined Stony Brook in August 2021, after having been the practicing Director of Otology/Neurotology at Penn State Hershey Medical Center for eight years.

Board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery, Dr. Isildak completed medical school at the Istanbul Faculty of Medical (Turkey, 2003), residencies in Neurology (2004) and Otolaryngology (2010) at Turkey's Marmara Medical School and Cerrahpasa Medical School, respectively; and fellowships in Otolaryngology (2012) and Otology-Neurotology (2013) at Christiana Care Health System (Delaware) and Paparella Ear Head & Neck Institute (Minnesota), respectively. He has also published multiple book chapters and more than 60 peer-reviewed manuscripts. In addition, he has been invited to present his work at national meetings and at several academic centers.

Dr. Isildak's professional honors include induction into the prestigious American Otological Society in 2023, recognition of his dedication to healthcare by Brookhaven Town at a 2023 Eid al Fitr Celebration, multiple Best Doctors® in America selections, and multiple awards for teaching and mentorship.
