Anastasia Bakoulis, DO, breast surgeon and Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery's Division of Breast Surgery, was a guest panelist at the recent Women’s Empowerment Luncheon at the One10 restaurant in Melville, NY. Sponsored and hosted by M&T Bank and Wilmington Trust as a service to the community and an opportunity for professional women to network, the event welcomed more than 100 women.
The panel, moderated by M&T Bank's Yianna Darsinos, included Toni Badolato, banking at M&T Bank; Alvina Lo, wealth management with Wilmington Trust; and Dr. Bakoulis. The panelists focused on the unique challenges to professional women who often have to juggle career, family and more
Dr. Bakoulis discussed women's health, in particular, breast cancer, which is her expertise. She relayed the signs and risks associated with breast cancer and urged professional women to make time to focus on their health.
This marked the second year in a row that a Stony Brook surgeon was an invited panelist at the Women's Empowerment Luncheon. Last year, Dr. Angela Kokkosis discussed vascular disease in women.
