In a June 5th, 2023 ceremony, Michelle Ceo, nurse practitioner for Stony Brook's Division of Pediatric Surgery, received the TORCH award from the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP), Long Island chapter. Ceo (RN, MSN, CPNP) has been a nurse practitioner at Stony Brook University Hospital since 2012.
LI NAPNAP, an association of advanced practice pediatric nurses, promotes the health and well-being of infants, children, adolescents and young adults on Long Island. Their TORCH (Trust, Optimism, Respect, Compassion, Hope) award is selected by the chapter president and recognizes individuals who have been a pediatric nurse practitioner for at least 15 years, a member in good standing for at least 10 years, and have demonstrated volunteer leadership as an official member of the LI NAPNAP Board.
"I was honored to receive the LI Presidential TORCH Award," said Ceo.
"I was honored to receive the LI Presidential TORCH Award," said Ceo. "I've enjoyed being part of the Executive Board of the LI NAPNAP since 2012. I am privileged to promote the health and wellness of the children of Suffolk County within the specialty of Pediatric Surgery and Trauma," she continued.
Ceo is currently the treasurer (since 2012) of LI NAPNAP and previously was the organization's president in 2016-2017. She has been a member since 2008.

A life-long resident of Long Island, Ceo began her medical training at Molloy College (B.S.N. Nursing, May 2003) in Rockville Centre, NY, and completed Stony Brook's Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Program (M.S.N. Child Health Nursing) in May 2008.
She started at Stony Brook University Hospital as an RN in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in 2003, then was an RN in Acute Inpatient Pediatrics from 2004 to 2012, and has been a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and Preceptor to Nurse Practitioner Students at Stony Brook since 2012.
