Nurse Specialist for the Medical ICU and COVID Unit, Stony Brook Medicine

Ms. Kuzow has served as a Medical ICU staff nurse at Stony Brook Medicine since 2011. She has an interest in engaging new ideas and implementing best practices, and in 2015 introduced PureWick©, a female external urinary product which has reduced catheter use and CAUTI infections at Stony Brook. In addition, she is a clinical adjunct professor in the Stony Brook University School of Nursing. Ms. Kuzow serves on the Sepsis and ICU committees, chairs the Clinical Practice Council, drives unit specific quality and safety initiatives, and creates and updates policy and procedures to improve practice across the institution. She was an instrumental front liner during the height of COVID and throughout the pandemic covering multiple COVID ICU’s expanding to meet the needs of the community and supported ICU staff caring for COVID patients. She is the recipient of the MICU Nurse of the Year (2012) and the Pura Pantojas Award for Nursing Excellence (2016).
