Dr. Jason Kim Speaks on a New Treatment for Recurring UTIs in Women
Dr. Jason Kim recently spoke with VeryWell Health about a new FDA-approved antibiotic that may help women suffering from recurring UTIs!
"The drug works in a novel way, blocking bacterial enzymes that allow for bacterial replication. That means Blujepa may be effective even when older antibiotics fail—especially important as antibiotic resistance rises,” said Jason Kim, MD, co-director of the Women’s Pelvic Health and Continence Center at Stony Brook Medicine.

Stony Brook Medicine is Now Offering a New Treatment Method for Bladder Cancer
Adstiladrin (Nadofaragene Firadenovec-vncg) is the first FDA-approved intravesical gene therapy for non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC). This treatment is approved for patients with high-risk Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG)-unresponsive NMIBC with carcinoma in situ with or without papillary tumors.
Adstiladrin is instilled directly into the bladder and delivers localized, non-replicating gene therapy, resulting in anti-tumor effects. Unlike other treatment options that require frequent visits, Adstiladrin is administered via catheter once every three months.
It has been seen that more than half of patients with NMIBC carcinoma in situ had complete response to treatment and almost half of these responses were maintained after one year.
We are highly pleased to add this to our treatment armamentarium and provide more options for our patients.
