Prenatal Support

Stony Brook Children's Hospital offers free prenatal breastfeeding classes.   No registration is required.

These classes take place the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month.
Time: 6:15-7 PM.
Location: Hospital Lobby Conference Room (around the corner to the left of the gift shop)

Postpartum Support

The Women and Infants Center at Stony Brook is currently participating in a quality improvement program called Best Fed Beginnings.  Our goal in participating in this program is to achieve Baby Friendly designation through our efforts to improve maternal –infant health care.  In keeping with this goal we have established a Breastfeeding Support Group open to all mothers delivered at Stony Brook.

Our Mission is to provide a safe and private place in the community where women can come to receive education and support in breastfeeding from a certified lactation counselor or consultant.

Nursing/pumping parents and their infants are welcome. To ensure their comfort and modesty, we ask that only those who are nursing/pumping stay for the session.

We welcome all individuals regardless of their gender identity, expression or sexual orientation.   All conversations are confidential.

We are thrilled to bring back our in-person Breastfeeding Support Group!  This replaces the virtual sessions which we started during the COVID-19 pandemic.
