Stony Brook University Hospital Quality Assessment Review Board

On the recommendation of the Blue-Ribbon Commission on Stony Brook University Hospital, the State University Board of Trustees voted to establish the Stony Brook University Hospital Quality Assessment Review Board on March 20, 2007.

The Board’s role includes the ability to review and make recommendations as to the hospital’s quality assurance system, to review and make recommendations with respect to the hospital’s credentialling process, to consult on the selection of the hospital’s chief executive officer, and to advise on long-term business opportunities.

The Board consists of 9-12 external members and not more than three ex-officio members of Stony Brook University. The external members shall be representatives of the highest ethical standards and relevant experience, whose private interests are not in conflict with membership on the Board. At least five external members shall be residents of Suffolk County, and at least two external members shall be physicians who are residents of New York State. Each member shall serve for a term of up to three years at the pleasure of the State University Board of Trustees. Each external member shall serve without compensation for services but shall be reimbursed for expenses incurred in the performance of the duties as members.
